Life Is Not A Ritual…
SocialTwist Tell-a-Friend

badrinath

badrinath

I was told by big writers that a good screenplay is a linear narration… straight story…

No flash backs and no flash forwards…

What I remember is that Sholay has a flash back… so as Titanic and so many…

Tezaab has flash back within a flash back… Anil Kapoor narrates his story to Suresh Oberoi then in that Madhuri narrates her life to Anil Kapoor…

All were big hit films…

So there are rules but no rules… there are methods but exceptions exist too…

In simple words… whenever you break the norm you succeed…

So break it… break the routine life… come up with something new…

No flash backs… only flash forwards…

Life is not a ritual… don’t live it as if you want to get rid of it…

Live it as if you always wanted to live this way…

Write your own screenplay…

Play with it… Juxtapose… Experiment…

Go wrong… come back… See again… live again…

There are so many new rules to be formed… New methods to be applied…

What are you waiting for…

Ok… Just think what did you do since morning… anything creative?

Any good conversation… any new word… any new tune… or sound of nature…?

Nothing…

Same hot water… one cup of tea for the morning… same naashta… uff..

Break it… it’s a loop…

Don’t live anything like a ritual… any relation… any work… anything…

Get rid of it… and re-start…

Whenever I run out of enthusiasm or new ideas, I go back to the time when I sat in the train to come to this dream land, Mumbai.

I remember m first dream… and I remember I am living that by breaking all so called norms…

Or Rituals…

Give break to yourself… think that for today you are Amitabh Bachchan…

The King… You are Mother Teresa..

See life with completely new point of view…

Its so good to approach differently… it always sets new records…

Try… :)

I will wait to see change in you:)

Do share… :)

While I am writing this…there is a knock at the door…go open it…

It’s your destiny:)

    Hi Vivek,

Great article, absolutely right, even movies such as Madhumati, Karan Arjun and many such big memorable movies have Flashblack and forward, the whole of the Back to the future was a success on this basis, Quantam Leap, followed a similar format..but its about getting the feel and execution right, nothing wrong in doing it..

I love the way you keep the mind and your thoughts positive, how did you get your first break in Mumbai on arrival, this would be interesting to know..

    Take care Brother

    All the best always

  2. Melwyn says:

    Dear Mr. Vivek,

What you say is true in every sense of the word. We have learned to accept certain things as they are because we have not bothered to think otherwise, or may be we are too scared to break laid out norms and traditions. But those who constantly break new grounds, make their own rules and set benchmarks for others to follow are the real leaders. So we need to think out of the box.

    Regards,

    Melwyn

    • Vivek Sharma says:

Yes Melwyn ji…think out of the box… people were scared that i am attempting a ghost story as my first film…but i followed my dream with conviction:)

  3. ravi saxena says:

    vivek bhai
I am also in process of implementation of the funda . thanks for a concise thought .One thing is sure in life that for any achievement one has to believe in his dream first and fully without shaking.
    luv to all

    • Vivek Sharma says:

Yes Ravi ji… Believe in yourself.. :)

  4. Sadaa says:

“Go wrong… come back…. See again… live again…” Very true.. We all go wrong at some point in life.. Whats important is to realise you are wrong and correct it than to continue living with it..
Doing the most unconventional thing with conviction can also lead us to success.. When it happens in someone elses life,we say the person is lucky.. NO..He jus believed in himself and dared to try and do something different…

    • Vivek Sharma says:

y its true.. as long as you realise it Sadaa…when we right a wrong scene we correct it at some point of life.. we don’t film that scene…

  5. Shalabh Gupta says:

    Dear Vivek ji,
Very well written! Really, your way of thinking is totally different. Your experiences are the mile stones of your success.
Have the courage to follow our dreams. It’s the first step towards attaining our destiny.
    Big thinking precedes big achievement.
Any challenge facing you is not as important as your attitude towards it, for that will determine your success or failure.
It’s how you react to events, not the events themselves, that determines your attitude.
Waiting for the series regarding “your journey of a director”…..
    With best regards,
    Shalabh Gupta

I think that life is divided in two zone , Comfort zone and Risky zone. The person, who prefers Comfort zone, has safe future but he is not exposed to the other aspects of life like excitement and denger. But in Risky zone , we are not sure about the future but each days gives a new hope and excitement “ki shyaad aaj kuch accha ho jaye aur yahi umeed hamain zinda rakhti hai aur sapne sakaar kanre ki taqat deti hai”.

    Dear Vivek ji,
    Good Evening !

  14. Shalabh Gupta says:

    Dearest Bobby,

Yesterday we decided to go to Chitrakoot, a place about 70 km from Satna.. and our day was made… gupt-godawari, ram temples, hanuman temples , sati anusuya and so many historical spots all blend in the beauty of the green forests which encompass these places. The multitude of mankeys… both small and large, mother with children, innocent and prank makers greeted us at different spots…finally when the night was closing in we were in the banks of river at the foot of huge HANUMAN, in a boat all dressed up like a beautiful shikara… the slow moving water with the torches flowing in them… towards their destinations…made up our day….a day worth remembring for its pious and holy experience…..regards Diljit
